Since I have had this LJ account since 2003 it's probably time I put some information into this bio...
I was born in America, raised in Melbourne, now living in Brisbane. Melbourne and Brisbane are in Australia by the way, or 'Downunderland' as I like to call it. Australia is a great place to live for the most part.
I am a Chemical Engineer (aka Process Engineer) working in the water industry. It's a good field, so my advice is "stay in school kids" I guess. Education is very important in this day and age.
In terms of spirituality I am an Agnostic (note for the misinformed, Agnostic does not mean 'still undecided'). I am typically fiercely opposed to the mixing of church and state, but also opposed to anyone who would try to force other people to live according to their faith and lifestyle...using religion to denying others the freedom and choice and human rights that they deserve. That also includes telling religious people their chosen faith is wrong. As long as people are allowed to live as they see fit, and not have other people's beliefs forced upon them, then religion or lack thereof is not a problem.
As for politics I am a . . . um, somewhat random? It really depends on the issue, I don't think one uncompromising approach can be applied to all issues, be it politically left, right, central or otherwise.
If there was an overall theme to this blog it would be "the treatment of people", both the good and the bad. Plus an unhealthy dose of raccoon nonsense, long-winded rambling, insomnia, coffee, coffee-fueled insomnia, and sentences that are strung together in an impressive yet unnecessary way using excessive amounts of punctuation; because I write and talk like that, I am not sure why.
Anyway, "treatment of people" is a nice way to summarize trawling through the news and issues, the commenting on all the politics and the human-rights stories and world events...oddly enough there is a fair bit of uplifting stuff there as well as the usual everyday atrocities and cruelty. Enjoy!
